De Rerum Natura interpreta el genius loci desde un lenguaje tranquilo y una geometría ajustada al paisaje de la ciudad de Santander. La propuesta da continuidad a la masa vegetal del Colegio de los Escolapios. Replica su tipología de jardín elevado sobre muros pétreos, siendo esta condición tectónica la que pauta la definición del edificio en su lindero Este. Dicho lindero aloja un patio inglés que habilita el acceso rodado de vehículos y mercancías, soluciona la logística del museo, e introduce luz natural en las dependencias bajo rasante.
El proyecto se circunscribe al volumen capaz convenido por la regulación urbanística, y lo hace planteando una reflexión más cercana a la estrategia territorial que a la táctica urbanística. La coronación abandona la jerarquía constructiva de apilamiento horizontal para acomodarse al plano inclinado solar del mediodía. Esta configuración incrementa la exposición solar de la envolvente y con ello mejora el rendimiento energético del conjunto respecto a una solución de doble rasante. Además de las ventajas en el plano bioclimático, la morfología evita segundas luces y favorece las vistas a la Dársena de Puertochico y la bahía de Santander.
De Rerum Natura reads the genius loci of the place into a slow language and a geometry adjusted to the landscape of Santander City . The proposal continues the green mass of the Escolapios College, replicating its typology of hanging garden on stony walls. This tectonic condition is the one that guides the definition of the building on its eastern edge, where an english courtyard enables the access of vehicles and goods, solving the logistics of the museum and introducing natural light into the underground.
The project is limited to the capable volume agreed by the urban regulation, it is closer to a territorial strategy than to the urban tactics. The coronation abandons the constructive hierarchy of horizontal stacking to accommodate itself to the inclined solar plane at midday. This configuration increases the solar exposure of the envelope and thereby improves the energy performance of the whole compared to a double-flush solution. In addition to the advantages at the bioclimatic level, the morphology avoids second lights and favors views of the Puertochico Dock and Santander Bay.
